Brand identity

noun

The visible parts of your brand: logo, colors, type, imagery and how they are used together.

Why it matters

People decide whether to trust a business in seconds, often before they read a word.

An example

A bakery with a warm hand-drawn logo, cream and terracotta colors and the same style on its boxes, menu and Instagram is recognized even without its name.

The short read

Identity is the look. It works when every piece follows the same rules.

A logo alone is not an identity. The system around it (versions, colors, type, spacing) is what keeps it consistent.

Identity should express your position, not just your taste. Start from who you serve, then design.
